£92, 000 grant funding for Carlisle CVS

Carlisle CVS has this week had confirmation of four successful grant funding applications totaling over £92,000.

Two major grants will secure the employment of two existing staff members. These are £47,000 from Northern Rock Foundation for the organisational development officer’s salary and related project costs until November 2006 and £36,000 from The Big Lottery to part-fund the salary of the volunteer centre co-ordinator until 2007.

Additionally two smaller grants will fund specific pieces of work over the next few months. £5,800 from Volunteering England for extra Volunteers Week activities this year(1-7 June) to celebrate 2005 The Year of the Volunteer and £3,800 from the Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities Fund to promote Skills for Life training in the voluntary and community sector.

Lynne Sneap, Chief Officer at Carlisle CVS said

“Many local voluntary and community groups rely on the support of our dedicated and skilled staff, many of who are paid using time limited project funding. I am delighted that this funding will not only secure their future employment but also provide extra funding to enable them to provide an even better service”.
