100 years of support to the voluntary sector
Carlisle
Council for Voluntary Service celebrated Volunteers’ Week 2004 (1st-7th
June) through a reception hosted by the Mayor of Carlisle, Cllr. Judith
Pattinson at the Civic Centre on Wednesday 2nd June 2004 at 7pm.
The
Mayor presented special centenary ‘Volunteers’ Week’ certificates to
volunteers nominated by their organisation to recognise volunteer’s
contribution in Carlisle and District in helping the local community.
Lynne Sneap, Chief Officer of Carlisle CVS said:
“Carlisle CVS is celebrating its centenary year (1904 - 2004). The Mayors Reception is just one of the events we have planned for this year to showcase the achievements of voluntary activity over the last 100 years. It is a great chance for local people to take part in the celebrations, especially during Volunteers’ Week”.
