Centenary Display

Carlisle Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) officially launches a display in the Millenium Gallery at Tullie House this week to celebrate its centenary year (1904 - 2004).  A small group of CVS Trustees have been researching key events over the last 100 years and will open the display with Matthew Constantine, the curator for social history at Tullie House.

The display will be on show throughout the year and new items will be added as research progresses into the history of Carlisle CVS and voluntary sector activity over the last 100 years.

CVS trustees are appealing to Carlisle organisations and local people to look through their own records and photographs for items which could be loaned to the display.

Lynne Sneap, Chief Officer at Carlisle CVS said

" This display is a great opportunity to showcase the achievements of voluntary activity over the last 100 years and also a great chance for local people to take part in the celebrations. The research and photographs gathered will be used to feature in a commemorative booklet CVS are publishing later in the year."

Anyone who wishes to contribute to either the display or the booklet should contact Carlisle CVS at 27 Spencer Street, Carlisle. Telephone 01228 512513.
