Launch
of new rural resource pack
A new resource pack for
voluntary and community groups in rural Carlisle was launched yesterday at a
"Rural Roadshow" held in Crosby on Eden Village Hall.
The idea for the pack came
from feedback received during a short research project conducted last year
“ The Carlisle Rural Audit - Mapping Future Needs” by Carlisle
Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) and Voluntary Action Cumbria (VAC) and
funded by the Home Office.
Carlisle City Council Rural
Support Officer and Cumbria County Council Neighbourhood Development officers
worked with CVS and VAC to produce the pack which gives details of the support
services provided by each organisation and how to contact them.
Lynne Sneap, chief officer
Carlisle CVS said
"Last years research
project aimed to identify what help voluntary and community groups in rural
Carlisle needed. One issue it identified was the lack of information about what
help was available and who provided it. The publication of this pack will make
it much easier for people in rural Carlisle to find the help, information and
advice they need to continue improving life in their local communities".
The pack will be sent out by
post to any organisation that took part in the original research but additional
copies are available free of charge from Carlisle CVS, 27 Spencer Street,
Carlisle. Tel. 01228 512513.
The summary report of "Carlisle Rural Audit - Mapping Future Needs" is also still available from CVS and the full report is available on the link above
